Philly girls’ HS previews: PAC-10’s Upper Perkiomen, Pottsgrove, Spring Ford

These are some of a series of previews on Philly HS lacrosse for 2016

Upper Perkiomen

Last year’s record: 5-8 league, 8-10 overall

Coach: Susan Flack 3rd season as head coach.

Returnees/players to watch:

Morgan Rynn senior mid/attack, 2nd team Pac-10, Committed to George Mason University
Regan McComb senior Hon Mention Pac-10, Committed to Costal Carolina University
Jenna Wismer senior defender, Committed to Lock Haven University
Alyssa Long senior attack/mid, Committed to Goucher College

Coach’s outlook:
“We return many players with varsity experience. We are excited to see what they will accomplish and are focusing on one game at a time.”

Pottsgrove

League: Pioneer Athletic Conference

Head coach: Kirstin (Mayberry) Urie, 5th season

Last year’srecord: 1-12 PAC-10, 4-14 Overall

Players to watch:
Cheyenne Owens – Senior, Attack, 54 Goals Last Season – hit the 100 Goal Mark
Madison Davis – Senior, Attack
Courtney Petrucelli – Senior, Midfield
Alyssa O’Neill – Senoir, Defense
Rachel Levengood – Senior, Defense

Coach’s outlook: “We lost a large group of seniors to graduation, but are returning 7 starters who bring a lot of talent and experience. There are some underclassmen who will be contributors right away and will help strengthen our weaker areas on the field. Last season we finished on a high note and hope to build on that success.”

Spring-Ford

League: Pioneer Athletic Conference

Head coach: Amy Short, 6th season

Last year’s record: 9-4 PAC-10, 12-7 overall, postseason: Lost to Downingtown East 11-5 in opening round of District 1-AAA tournament

Returnees/Players to watch
Brianna Cirino, Senior – midfield – Rutgers Univ. – 2015 all area honorable mention (30 goals, 5 assists)
Lauren Mensch, Junior – defense – 2015 all area honorable mention; PAC 10 honorable mention
Molly McMahon, Junior – defense – 2015 2nd team defense PAC 10
Camryn Jones, Junior – midfield – 2015 2nd team all area attack; 1st team PAC 10 2015 (36 goals, 1 assist)
Alyssa Conway, Junior – defense
Shannon Reape, Junior, defense
Kamille Ward, junior, goalie

Coach’s outlook: “Spring-Ford is excited to play this year. We have a lot of returning talent, plus a group of new young players to add to the competitiveness of each practice. The girls are working hard to compete at a high level and we are taking each day as a new challenge.”
