Tucker Almany

High School: Saint James School, MD

Graduation Year: 2017

Position: Goalie

College Choice: St. Joseph’s University

Club Affiliation: Baltimore Rock

Lacrosse Honors: All-IPSL 2x, Second Team All-Washington County, All-Tournament Team @ Lax Evolution

What will you major in/study? Biology/ Pre-Med

Why did you choose St. Joe’s? “The largest reason that I chose St. Joseph’s was the academics. The school has a great partnership with the local hospitals and that will be great experience for my intended career path.

“Next, the coaching staff and the overall aura of the lacrosse program. Each time I was around the team I was drawn in by the intensity with which every member of the team participated in practice and in the weight room. Coach (Taylor) Wray and Coach (Mike) Horowitz were also spoken highly of by the players and others around the program, and treated both me and my family well.

“Another bonus is the close proximity to downtown Philadelphia and all of the opportunities that come with the area.”

Thoughts on the 2016 HS season? “This year we returned nearly all of our starting defense, but we were rebuilding completely on the offensive end. With the addition of Coach Erik Holt the offense was able come together and provide the necessary firepower to win some close games. Our defense was also able to gel thanks to Coach Lachut, and we were able to subdue some teams star players. We finished 9-7 and won the IPSL championship for the second time in three years.”

Thank You: “First, I would like to thank my family – Dad, Mom and Griffin – for always supporting me and being there for me.

“Next I would like to thank the people that have helped me become the person that I am today: Fr. Dunnan, Mr. Batson, Teddy, Levi, James and Sean. I would also like to thank my early youth coaches at Rock and HAYLA for teaching me almost all I know about the game, and helping me all through the recruiting process: Coach Mayer, Coach Stiegz, Coach Corbett, Coach Jones, Coach Ewing and Coach Tallant. Without these people I would not be anywhere near where I am today, both on and off the field.”

Other schools considered: Washington & Lee University, Gettysburg College, St. Mary’s College
