Both Catholic League champions, La Salle and Archbishop Carroll, breezed to District 12 titles Wednesday with wins over Northeast at the Northeast High SuperSite and earned tickets to the PIAA tournament.
La Salle (18-3) downed Northeast, 18-2, and will play the District 1 fifth-place finisher (Bishop Shanahan or Spring-Ford) on Wednesday in the first round of the PIAA tourney at Plymouth Whitemarsh at 5:30 p.m.
Carroll (18-3) toppled Northeast, 19-1, and will play the District 1 fifth-place finisher (Conestoga or Central Bucks West) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Neumann University.
La Salle has won four of the five District 12 title games since the new format was instituted to allow the Catholic League champion to meet the Public League champ. Carroll has won all five District 12 crowns.
