Ryan Conrad finishes inside off a feed from Simon Mathias with 8.45 seconds to play as the United States made a stunning comeback to defeat a game Canada, 13-12, tonight in the gold medal game of the 2016 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Under-19 Men’s Lacrosse World Championships at Coquitlam, British Columbia.

The US – which has won all eight championships – rallied from deficits of 6-0, 8-2 and later 12-9, midway through the final period.
A goal by Ryland Rees off a faceoff GB from the wing gave Canada a 12-9 lead with 9:10 left in the final quarter. But the US pulled within 12-10 after several key saves by goalie Willie Klan led to a tally by Timmy Kelly with 7 minutes to play.
Following a key face-off win by Austen Henningsen (15 of 26 FO) Mathias sent a skip pass from the right GLE up top to Mac O’Keefe, who made it 12-11 with 5:30 left. Henningsen won another draw and then Jared Bernhardt dodged to the alley and tied it with 2:34 left.
O’Keefe and Mathias each had two goals and an assist while Conrad, Alex Roesner and Timmy Kelly each scored twice for the US. Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin) had a goal and two assists while Bernhardt and Dox Aitken (Haverford School) each had a goal and an assist. Klan had eight saves.
Treton Leclaire had three goals for Canada and Ethan Walker added two goals and an assist. Kyle Hebert had 10 saves.
