Game MVP Miranda Ibello (Maryvale Prep, MD) had three goals and three assists as the USA rallied from an early deficit to topple Canada, 15-9, today in the first day at the FIL U19 Women’s World Championships in Edinburg, Scotland.
Ibello scored late in the first half to forge a 7-7 tie and midfielder Tess D’Orsi scored in a man-up offense to spark a 5-0 run to open the second half as the US seized control.
Kerrigan Miller (Bayport-Blue Point, NY), Francesca Whitehurst (Roland Park) and Lindsey Ronbeck (Manhasset, N.Y.) each had two goals for the US. Erica Evans (Canisius College) had three goals and an assist for Canada. Chloe Jones (Lawrenceville School) scored once.
Canada led, 3-0, early in the game.
