Cherokee (N.J.) 2018 attack/midfield Gabryelle Bodine has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Butler University.

What will you major in/study? Biology
Why did you choose this school? “I just knew from the moment I stepped on campus that Butler was the school I needed to go to. Everybody there is so incredibly nice and wants to hear your story. I also love how Butler has a big school feel. I just knew right away that it was the perfect fit for me.”
Outlook for 2017 HS season? “I am personally extremely excited for this upcoming lacrosse season. We recently just got a new head coach and so far he has done great things for the team and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do for us this season.”
People to thank: “First, I would like to thank all of my coaches: Coach Bell, Coach Melissa and Coach Katie Lee. None of these coaches ever stopped believing in me; they always pushed me because they knew I could always be doing better. They saw what I had in me and they never gave up on me. Second, I would like to thank my trainer, CJ Appenzeller. He has pushed me beyond my limits and helped me become a stronger athlete. He showed me that working for something can be as fun as you make it. Last but definitely not least, I want to send a tremendous thank you to my parents. I could honestly say that I would not be where I am today without them. After every game and every practice they would give me something they saw that I could improve on and they helped me improve on it. They have provided me with an endless amount of opportunities. They never forced anything on me, they gave me the options and I chose. They always encouraged me to branch out and taught me to never be scared to try new things. I am here because of them, so for that I would like to say thank you mom and dad!”
