1st Start Lacrosse is a program where the basics to the game are broken down and taught in a fun and exciting environment. It’s for children, boys and girls, ages 4-7 and it will be coached by all former players now educators in the Philly area who have an extreme passion for the game.
1st Start features a 6-week program on Sundays starting September 24 where each session will be 60 minutes long. Lacrosse sticks (plastic) will be provided at every session along with a 1st Start STARTer pack, where each child will receive a 1st Start T-Shirt, Sweatband, and Sticker!
There will be 2 different 1st Start locations this fall: Sabold Elementary School in Springfield (Delaware County) and Swarthmore College.

HS Clinics

Blue Ox Sport Psychology Mental Performance Training, Wednesdays, Sept. 28-Nov. 2. The clinics are open to boys and girls of all ages and will feature Theresa Giunta, MS, Mental Performance Coach. The mission of Your Limitless Mind, Mental Performance training is to aid athletes in their lacrosse development by using the skills learned on the field to build confident, team oriented and mentally tough individuals. The program will help players gain resilience and recovery from mistakes with a “never give up” attitude, confidence, enhance focus and maintain focus in the present moment, develop effective communication skills, the ability to cope in high pressure situations and work effectively with teammates: all skills that are essential to becoming a mentally strong and LIMITLESS lacrosse player. The goal is to inspire and empower players to reach their full potential both on and off the playing field using mental skills training.
The 6-week program includes sessions geared towards goal setting, awareness, growth from mistakes, communication, pressure and playing your roll on the field.

Faceoff and Shooting training by pro standout Matt Mackrides of Blue Ox Lacrosse and Philly Faceoff co-founder John Bodnar, at Maine Line Sports center in Berwyn, starting Sept. 24. The class will be capped at 20 players. Each week one group will receive 45 minutes of intense shooting drills with Coach Mackrides, while the other group receives 45 minutes of faceoff training with Coach Bodnar before you switch it up. All ages are welcome to register. The clinics will be he;d on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Main Line Sports Center. Rutgers Division 1 Experience Lacrosse Camp prospect day on Oct. 16 for boys in the Classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Division 1 Experience Lacrosse Camps were designed to bring you the college game and experience as coached by the Division 1 Rutgers University Coaching Staff. The camps are open to any and all players and will allow them to go through all aspects of a Division 1 practice. The thought behind the Division 1 Experience camps is to give players fundamental concepts, division 1 coaching, as well as preparing them to play the game at the highest level. Rutgers head coach Brian Brecht and his staff will conduct college-level practice teaching the game and preparing players as they look to take the next step with their game both mentally and physically. Whether you are going into your senior year, or if you’re a junior/sophomore looking for an up-tempo camp to get ready for the upcoming season, this is a great opportunity for you!

About the league: Fusion Lacrosse has been the leaders in responsibly growing the box lacrosse game since 2013. Fusion lends value to the league and the growth of box by providing every team with two training seasons that provide players and coaches with the tools to play the game successfully and safely. Fusion also provides USBOXLA rulebook and certified referees that have been working with Fusion leagues over the past 3+ years, making them the most accomplished box referees in the state.
League games are longer than typical league games, taking place in an hour block. This allows for substantial team warmups and timeouts adding significant value to the league experience!

Maplezone Sports Institute Boys Indoor Box League, powered by Heritage Lacrosse. MSI and Heritage are pleased to offer a brand new winter indoor modified box lacrosse league format specifically designed to promote safe and fast play based on key box lacrosse fundamentals and concepts. The modified box rules benefit all lacrosse players. Attackmen and midfielders will learn to operate in tight spaces improving stick skills, passing and shooting accuracy. Long sticks are not allowed so defenders will learn to play with their body and feet, improving approach and angle play. Goalies will be instructed on proper box goaltending techniques, including positioning, angles, baiting, etc.

Prior to the season commencing, each team and coach will participate in a 1.5-hour training session with USA Indoor Coach Adam Mueller to learn fundamental box drills, techniques and concepts.
Format: Modified box lacrosse rules; 5v5 plus goalies (4’x4′ box goals and goalie equipment will be provided); Each team will play 8 games, followed by playoffs for the top 4 teams in each division; Each team will have one 1.5-hour box training session (in November) led by USA Indoor Coach, Adam Mueller; Training program will be for players and coaches and will focus on proper box techniques, including biomechanics, offensive/defensive angles, shooting/finishing, picks, screens, on and off ball play, proper box goaltending techniques; Once league registration is complete, teams will be notified with designated training date/time slot; League will provide/loan box goalie gear for teams; No long poles

Spring League

Maplezone Sports Institute Boys Atlantic Club Lacrosse League for Middle School and Youth teams. Maplezone Sports Institute (MSI) powered by Heritage Lacrosse is pleased to announce the launch of the Atlantic Club Lacrosse League, a youth boys spring league that will feature competitive travel club teams with players in the graduating classes of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Doubleheaders will be scheduled for each team on alternating Sundays. Games are 12-minute running quarters with a minute-long break in between quarters and a five-minute halftime. Teams play eight regular season games before playoff Sunday that determines the league champion by graduating class. The dates are March 19; April 2 and 23 and May 7 and 21. All games are played on all turf fields at the MSI Sports Village located in Aston, PA. Schedules, results and standings will all be available real time.
The league uses modified Federation rules with minor tweaks. There is limited contact with an emphasis on player safety, especially when it comes to head contact and unsportsmanlike play.
League Overview: (8 games / team + playoffs); Each team plays 8 games, plus playoffs; Play 2 games/day, every other Sunday; Minimizes conflicts, maximizes value of each game day; Games comprised of four 12-minute quarters; Game Days – March 19, April 2, April 23, May 7 (Playoffs on May 21)

Fall Tournaments

West Chester Fall Invitational Youth Lacrosse Tournament, by Fusion Lacrosse, in conjunction with West Chester Youth Lacrosse Association, October 22/23, 3rd-8th Grade Divisions, at Maple Zone Sports Village, Aston, PA.
This invitational is a youth-only tournament by design; All of the focus will be catered to younger age groups, which usually take a back seat to high schools at large tournaments. A one-day tournament with four games guaranteed and Championships for all groups except 3/4. This will be run by an elite, up-and-coming Event provider, Fusion Lacrosse highlighting appropriate pricing for all age groups.

Fall Showcases

Last of the Titans D3 Showcase, by the Passport, Sunday, Oct. 23 at The Shipley School. The event is for a limited number of players in the classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019 that seek to play in Division III schools. The event will be held on two side-by-side turf fields. Attack and goalie are sold out; spots remain for middies, defensemen and FOGOs.

The Match™, a recruiting showcase focusing on strong players targeting Division III colleges. The Heritage Lacrosse event, open to boys in 2017-2019 graduation years, will be held Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the new MSI Sports Village in Aston, PA. The Match™ is designed for players who are strong Division III candidates – athletically and academically.
The Match has been well-received by college coaches, players and families and has resulted in numerous successful recruiting outcomes/commitments. Over 400 athletes and coaches from 50 DIII schools have participated in the event since 2013.

Coaches: High school/club coaches are invited and encouraged to nominate strong candidates for The Match™ by completing the on-line nomination form. Where: MSI Sports Village, Aston, PA (on 3 adjacent turf fields); 12-5pm, which will permit day trips from hot beds in the region.
Format: Positional clinics, drills/station work, 7v7 games, full field scrimmaging, recruiting seminar/presentation on the DIII value proposition. The format makes the event informative and participatory for players and highly efficient from a college coach’s standpoint.

Big12 Fall Lacrosse Invitational will be held on Sunday, November 13 at Blandair Park in Columbia, MD. The Big 12 event is developed and structured to provide high school club lacrosse participants in the freshman, sophomore and junior classes a tournament venue, schedule and program that provides a fall tournament experience combining ELITE level competition and NCAA DI, DII, DIII evaluation and recruiting exposure for the team/players participating.
Proceeds from the Big12 Fall Invitational will be donated to the Big12 tournament partner the Brigance Brigade Foundation (brigancebrigade.org), whose mission is to equip, encourage and empower people living with ALS.
OJ Brigance is a retired CFL and NFL player and current Senior Advisor to Player Development for the Baltimore Ravens who was diagnosed with ALS in 2007, living today in humble fashion while overcoming many adversities using three key words: Faith, Focus and Fortitude.
Legacy Global Sports will remain a tournament infrastructure support partner for the event again this year.

The Big 12 Fall Lacrosse Invitational will be held at Blandair Park in Howard County Maryland on a 3 Turf Field Complex and the turf field at Oakland Mills HS (adjacent to Blandair). Directions to each locator and field maps are here.

Warrior Diamond Showcase for boys in the Classes of 2017 to 2020 on Nov. 19 at St. Paul’s School, 11152 Falls Rd, Brooklandville, MD 21022. The Warrior Diamond Showcase is the ideal recruiting opportunity for the well-rounded student athlete that hopes find the right fit to play in college. Top Coaches from DI, II, III will be there to recruit and coach the participants, as well as provide off-the-field seminars for parents and players. The entire event takes place over three adjacent fields to ensure optimal exposure to the college coaches in attendance.

The Warrior Diamond Showcase is one of the longest running fall recruiting showcases in the country. This is the ideal recruiting opportunity for the well-rounded student athlete that hopes to excel on the field and in the classroom in college. Directors put an emphasis not only on top lacrosse programs and also top academic schools in the DI, DII, and DIII levels. Space are limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come basis.
The showcase is held on the turf fields at St. Paul’s School near Baltimore. This event provides a better value than your average college prospect day because you will have the opportunity to play for and get coached by several coaches at different college levels during the day. The showcase features positional clinics and coaching seminars from college coaches. Parents will also have the opportunity to learn about the recruiting process directly from the college coaches.
Other key info: Coach Bill Dwan, the Associate Head Coach from Johns Hopkins University will speak about Division I recruiting process. Renowned Strength and Conditioning Coach Jay Dyer from JHU will open the day with a stretch and training session. Coach Dyer will be available to answer strength and conditioning questions from parents and players during his seminar.

National 175 Fall Showcase, November 20th, Avon Old Farms School, 500 Old Farms Road, Avon, CT 06601. This event was created to provide a showcase venue for the top players seeking to get recruited while competing against other top players. This one day showcase will offer a special opportunity for players in the 4 recruiting grades to be seen by what we expect to be a very large number of college coaches. The players will assemble early in the morning and be given teams to play on in a competitive venue whereby they will all play 3 games. The 2018 & “last chance 2017” players will compete with each other and the goal is to have the 2019 and 2020 grad years competing in separate divisions. In order to maintain the quality of this event, the showcase is committed to keeping each graduation year attendance to approximately only 175 players per graduation year. Banquets

The Fifth Annual EVANFEST Lacrosse Banquet will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17 at Drexelbrook Catering in Drexel Hill. Once again, the event will feature big-name speakers and a program that fittingly honors a youth tournament and foundation in Evan Brady’s name that has raised $1 million in funds and helped 250 families with children that have life-threatening diseases. Individual banquet tickets are $95; the event runs from, 6:30-9 p.m. Click here to purchase a ticket. The first hour of the program features an open bar and time for attendees to mingle.
This event is a celebration of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Community and its dedication to recognizing the many ways the community assists in helping people’s lives off the field as well as on the field. Evan Brady was a youth lacrosse standout who battled osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) for several years until passing away at the age of 19 in 2005. The 10th annual EVANFEST lacrosse festival will be held in April 2017 at Malvern Prep. EVANFEST draws more than 40 boys’ youth lacrosse teams in the U-15 and U-13 divisions.
The Master of Ceremonies for the event again is Philly lacrosse standout goalie Brian Dougherty, the head coach at Chestnut Hill College and a recent inductee into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The special guest speaker is popular Philly comedian Joe Conklin, who makes guest appearances frequently on WIP 94.1 sports talk radio in Philadelphia, and is known in the Philadelphia area for impersonations of local athletes as well as national celebrities.
