From Press Release

The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association is looking for HEADstring™ Project volunteers (teams/programs/student-athletes) to restring and refurbish donated sticks using HEADstrong’s signature lime green mesh. Once completed, the sticks will be distributed to teams/players in Philadelphia and elsewhere.headstring

Several dozen student volunteers over the last three years have earned community service credit from the PLA and The HEADstrong Foundation,™ who have partnered to further blood cancer awareness and promote the growth of lacrosse through the initiative. The PLA has donated several hundred recycled sticks to players in Philadelphia and Norristown to date. This year the PLA hopes to help schools in Chester start lacrosse programs.

The objective of the HEADstring™ Project is to infuse the values and positive message associated with the HEADstrong Foundation™, while helping to introduce the game to inner city students. The project seeks to inspire students-athletes by sharing the story of HEADstrong founder Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori, whose names is synonymous with character, camaraderie, courage, strength, toughness, determination and perseverance.

The project promises to provide opportunities to student-athletes in underserved areas through the great game of lacrosse. It will enable interested volunteers to give back in the form of community service.

High school and youth teams and coaches, booster clubs, leagues, travel programs and student athletes interested in getting involved, contributing to a good cause, generating good will and potentially earning community service credit – PLEASE REGISTER ON THE HEADTRING™ PROJECT WEBSITE ASAP (click here).

String stringing experience is preferred. The PLA currently has about 50 new or donated heads that need to be restrung with HEADstrong’s distinctive mesh. Once restrung, the heads will be fitted with new shafts and given new life in the hands of players in Philadelphia or other areas where the seeds have been planted.

We hope you can help with a few extreme makeovers – lacrosse style – to further some worthy goals. If you have any questions concerning the HEADstring™ Project, please click here.
