Women’s recruits: McNeely (@shgirlslaxx) among signees for Siena

Siena Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Bryana Borrelli announced the addition of eight to program. Six of the eight additions are from New York, while one come from Rhode Island and one hails from Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to welcome this group of student athletes to our Siena lacrosse family,” said Borrelli. “They are a very talented and well rounded group who will look to make an immediate impact on the field.”

Part of the New York State Championship team in 2015, Kaitlyn Dowsett hails from Manorville, New York. She is a two-sport athlete at Eastport South Manor High School. Her team was Suffolk County Champions in 2013, 2015 and 2016. Dowsett is a one-time Long Island All-American team member as well as a three-time Suffolk County team member (2014, 2015, 2016). She was named the Unsung Hero in 2016. After her efforts during the 2016 season where she scored 24 goals and dished out 11 assists, Dowsett was named Long Island All American MVP for Suffolk County. She also plays for the Long Island Yellow Jackets 2017 Blue Team. Dowsett earned All-Tournament in 2015 and All-County in 2016 for field hockey.

Nicole McNeely plays lacrosse for Strath Haven High School. The Wallingford, PA native has earned Honorable Mention for the Central League that past two seasons. During her sophomore year, she was named to the Third Team for the National Tournament Team. After her junior season, McNeely earned First Team Honors for the National Tournament Team. She led the team in goals in four of the games played during her junior year.

Emily Fiorillo is a four-year varsity starter from St. John the Baptist DHS. The Bayshore, New York native was named the 2016 Defensive MVP for the lacrosse team. She has been captains for the lacrosse, winter track and cross country programs. Fiorillo earned All-League and All-State honors in both Cross Country and Winter Track. She has received Summa Cum Laude honors every year as well as receiving the Scholar Athlete Award. Fiorillo was granted the AP Scholar Award. Her older sister, Annie Fiorillo, is currently a sophomore on the lacrosse team and her father, Joseph Fiorillo, played lacrosse at Siena.

A three-sport athlete from Canandaigua Academy, Isabelle Kenyon makes her way to Siena from Canandaigua, New York. She was named a Scholar Athlete four straight years. Kenyon has earned the Best Defense Award for the past three seasons. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. Kenyon has been on the High Honor Roll throughout her high school campaign.

Kelsey Lane is four-year varsity two-sport athlete from Miller Place, New York. She has been a varsity starter for lacrosse for three seasons. Lane earned the Rookie of the Year award for Miller Place High School. She was named the All-County Unsung Hero.

Lane also plays soccer at Miller Place High School. She is a two-time All-Conference Selection as well as earning the team’s Defender of the Year award three-times. Lane most recently won the Most Valuable Player for the soccer program where she is also the senior captain. She has been on the High Honor Roll for 13 straight quarters as well as being part of both the National Honor Society and Foreign Language National Honor Society. Lane played for the Long Island Top Guns travel lacrosse team. She also played on a premiere level (NPL) travel soccer team.

Julia Plecher has been voted by teammates to be the team captain for the upcoming 2017 lacrosse season at C.W. Baker High School. The Baldwinsville, New York native was a two-time Section III All-Star. She was named to the CNYCL Second Team after her junior year. Plecher was a CNYCL Honorable Mention selection after the 2015 season. She is a three-year NY State Scholar Athlete. Plecher is a member of the National Honor Society. She has been a captain of the Relay for Life Team for three years and her team has raised over $8,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Emily Pomeroy is a two-sport athlete from Jamesville-Dewitt High School. She has played on the varsity lacrosse team for three years and the varsity cross country team for four.

The Jamesville, New York native is a Second Team All-County selection. She was part of the cross country program that was Cross Country Sectional Champions in 2014. Pomeroy is a part of both the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She received the Gold Key on the National Spanish Exam.

The Rhode Island Scholar Athlete Award winner, Alexandra Rekos comes to Siena from South Kingstown, Rhode Island. Rekos is a four-year starter at South Kingstown High School. She earned an All-League selection her sophomore year as well as being named Second Team All-State her junior year. Rekos led the team in goals and assists last season as she led the team to a state victory in Rhode Island for Division II.She was a Brine All-American New England Team and Brine All-American Tournament All-Star selection.Rekos also played four-years of varsity ice hockey. She is a member of the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Association) as well as being on both the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. Rekos received the Honors Award for the National Spanish Exam.

Siena women’s lacrosse opens their 2017 campaign on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Winthrop. The Saints return 18 including seven starters and five of the program’s top-seven scorers which set a program record 12.1 goals per game and tied the program’s single-season record of 206 goals scored.
