Paul VI (N.J.) 2016 face-off specialist Colin Savacool has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Widener University.

Colin Sevacool

High School: Paul VI High School, NJ

Graduation Year: 2016

Position: Face-off specialist

College Choice: Widener University

Club Affiliation: SJ Shamrocks, Blue Chip 225 National Team

Major lacrosse honors 2nd Team All-Conference Freshman year; 1st Team All-Conference Junior Year; Philly Showcase All-Star; Blue Chip 225 All-Star

What will you major in/study? Nursing

Why did you choose school? “Widener is the perfect fit for me. It allows me to balance my studies while at the same time competing at a high level of lacrosse. Coach (Brendan) Dawson was able to connect with me and show me how great of a school Widener is. Coach Dawson has very high aspirations for the Widener lacrosse team and I am glad I will be able to be a part of his plan.”

Thoughts on your HS team’s season? “We finished last year with our first ever .500 season in the school’s history. Every year we seem to get better and even though we are losing our goalie and most of our starting defense due to graduation I think we will fill those gaps. I believe anything less than a winning season for us will be a disappointment to our team and the athletic department which is starting to get behind us and support us.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank all of the coaches that I have had the pleasure to learn from, including Coach Keane and Coach Spencer. I would also like to thank Greg Gurenlian and the FOA staff for all that they have taught me and also all of the coaches at the NFC8 event. I also need to thank my High School coach, Coach Halla, for helping to improve my overall game and Coach Bodnar and Mike Dolente for greatly improving my draw abilities at the Philly Face-Off League. I also would like to thank John Barrett for introducing me to the game of lacrosse. Most importantly, I would like to thank my parents for all of the support they gave me and for all of the events they sent me to. I would also like to thank my brother who practices with me and works out with me and also my girlfriend for the support she has given me through this long process, along with all of my other friends and teammates.”

Other schools considered: Drexel, Salisbury
