Scott White’s overtime goal scored in overtime to give host Malvern Prep a 10-9 thriller over Penn Charter today in Inter-Ac League boys’ lacrosse.
Billy Coyle led the Friars (10-2, 3-1) with three goals and three assists while White scored three and Andrew Clark posted 16 saves. Jack Traynor and Mike Fay each had a goal and two assists.
Penn Charter (5-9, 1-3) – coming off a stunning upset of Haverford – rallied dramatically by scoring three goals in the final 54 seconds of regulation to send it into OT. Luke Stansfield, who had five goals and an assist, scored with 15 seconds left and then tied it with 4.2 seconds to go off a pass from Blake Target.
Gavin Tygh won 14 of 24 face-offs – including the draw to set up the tying goal – and scored once while Carson Marano had 13 saves for the Quakers. Nick DiCicco added two goals.
Malvern is tied atop the Inter-Ac with Haverford School and Episcopal Academy at 3-1.
