Peter Ortale
Peter Ortale was a 1983 PC grad who was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The touchstone was created using actual steel from the World Trade Center site.
Peter was a two-time high school All-American and as captain led Penn Charter to the 1983 State Championship. He went on to become a two-time All Atlantic Coast Conference at Duke and captained the Blue Devils in 1987.
Peter’s passion for lacrosse was only a part of his passion for life. His life has served as an inspiration to all who knew him.
The Inter-Ac and the entire region is a tight knit lacrosse community. The hope is that every athlete who walks on the field at Penn Charter will tap the monument to remember Peter and the example he set as a lacrosse player and as a citizen.
The game itself also has great meaning. Haverford School and Malvern Prep are tied atop the Inter-Ac with 5-2 records, closely followed by Penn Charter and Episcopal Academy at 4-3.
