Pansini Law Group Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week: @Radnor_Lax 2017 DEF Breedveld

Radnor 2017 defender Sophie Breedveld has been named the Pansini Law Group Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players that excel in academics, service and athletics.

Year: 2017
Position: Defense
College committed to: University of Virginia (not committed for lacrosse, but may play club)
Lax club team: STEPS Elite Philly
Extracurricular Activities: Youth soccer and lacrosse coach, camp counselor for World Cup Sports Academy, Model UN

Community/ Service Organizations:
-Treasurer for National Honor Society
-Helped organize a garage sale to benefit the ABC House
-Katie Samson Foundation volunteer
-Helped raise money for CHOP and Philadelphia Epilepsy Foundation.

Academic honors/awards:
-Distinguished Honor Roll for all 4 years
-AP Scholar
-4.27 weighted GPA

Athletic honors:

-Varsity starter for lacrosse and soccer
-Varsity runner for Indoor Track (most valuable runner this season)

What are your college and future goals?
Breedveld:
“My goal is to major in Global Public Health at UVA on a pre-med track. In the future, I hope to work in the international health field and have the opportunity to travel all across the world.”

How do you describe leadership?
Breedveld:
“I would describe leadership as exhibiting the qualities that allow you to lead by example. These qualities include having a positive on the field, supporting your teammates verbally and emotionally, and holding yourself and your teammates to a high standard.”

How do you balance lacrosse, school, and extracurriculars?
Breedveld:
“I’ve actually found that sports help me balance my school work because they keep me on a schedule. Personally, I find the easiest way to balance lacrosse and school is by planning my life on a week-to-week basis. This way I can see which nights I have time do work and which nights I have home/away games or pasta parties.”
