ESPN “Featured,” a special in-depth report seen regularly on ESPN, on Sunday will highlight The Courage Game – a unique lacrosse game held May 24 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Ace Adams Field to support gay youth, rebuke bullying, and promote wider education and awareness for LGBT equality.

The feature is scheduled to run Sunday on SportsCenter in the 9-10 AM EST segment and possibly in the 12-1 PM segment. It also is expected to be aired in the 11-12 PM time period.

The event was co-founded by lacrosse star Andrew Goldstein and Nick Welton in partnership with LacrosseAllStars.com and the You Can Play Project.
The purpose of the Courage Game is to encourage and support gay youth, rebuke bullying, and promote wider education and awareness for LGBT equality. Many times, these initiatives are sparked from tragedy; however, ours is a positive story of encouragement and a testament to the character of the lacrosse community around the country.
The game featured adult and youth players who are passionate about equality.

The event was inspired by 12-year-old Braeden of the Philly suburbs and created with the leadership of Andrew Goldstein, a research scientist, anti-bullying advocate and public speaker who earned 3-time All-Ivy League and 2-time NCAA Division I All American honors as a lacrosse goaltender at Dartmouth College. Goldstein came out to his lacrosse team after his sophomore season, and made headlines when he became the first openly gay man in the US to be drafted into a professional sports team (Boston Cannons). He later played with the Long Island Lizards and in 2013 he was inducted into the inaugural class of the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame.
