The schedule for Philly’s first first Shootout for Soldiers, the 24-hour lacrosse event, has been released as the highly-successful fundraiser hits Episcopal Academy Thursday and Friday.
The charity lacrosse event has raised over $1.5 million for charities that honors since 2012 and will be touring 12 locations throughout the summer. The event, founded by Tyler Steinhardt, is entirely volunteer-led, and a host committee led by Episcopal Academy has helped develop a family-friendly charity event to unite the whole community.
The event is comprised of 24, 1-hour games in a row and was open to men’s and women’s teams of all ages. Teams must fundraise a minimum of $750 to participate. In addition to lacrosse, there will be live music, food trucks and a festival of fun and activities for the whole family.
Funds from this event – which have neared the goal of $50,000, will go to The Travis Manion Foundation and the Delaware County Veterans Memorial. Shootout for Soldiers also supports four other national charities. Fans and supporters can donate money through the players’ individual fundraising pages.
The event kicks off Thursday with Opening Ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 24 1-hour games (see schedule in graphic). The event ends Friday at 7 p.m. with Closing Ceremonies.
An early highlight is the 8 p.m. matchup between Mesa Fresh and GMH, two perennial powers in the Summer Lacrosse League of Southeastern PA. These two squads feature many former and current Philly scholastic and college standouts and a rivalry that is rare among men’s club teams.

Rain won’t stop Shootout for Soldiers! If it rains, they keep playing. If there are more severe storms, they will take a 15-minute advisory break.
