DeLaney, a 2006 Moorestown High grad, takes over the Prep lacrosse program which won the Catholic League championship last year and advanced to the Pennsylvania state title game where it fell in overtime to Radnor.

“I am excited to be able to hire a coach like Sean DeLaney, someone with experience in the sport at the highest levels and who also has a passion for coaching,” said SJP Athletic Director Dennis Hart, who chaired the search committee to fill the position.

Last year, DeLaney launched and created a top-tier boys travel select lacrosse program in South Jersey. The team won three tournament championships this past summer. Prior to that, he spent four years with Nike, helping to increase its market share in the sport of lacrosse. DeLaney was the number eight pick overall in the 2010 MLL Draft to the Denver Outlaws and was a starter as the team advanced to the league semifinals in 2010 and 2011.

DeLaney is a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina, where he earned second-team, All-American honors while serving as a co-captain and team MVP during his senior year. He was also a third-team, All-American as a junior when he earned UNC’s most outstanding offensive player award.

DeLaney was a 2006 High School All American and 1st Team All State player at Moorestown.

DeLaney replaces Andy German, who took the Hawks to the title game in his only season, and left to take the top assistant job at new D1 program Cleveland State.
