Shawnee (N.J.) 2019 goalie Ashley Vernon has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at East Carolina University.

Why did you choose ECU? “I chose ECU because it has everything I could ever want in a college from the big school feel to the major I want to pursue. When I visited, I felt so welcomed by the coaching staff as well as the team. The girls were super nice and immediately made me feel like part of the team. They’re all very excited and enthusiastic about building a new program and I can’t wait to be a part of it!”
HS team’s 2018 outlook: “I think this is going to be a big comeback year for us. Everyone is underestimating us because of our record last year, but towards the end of last season we really started to gel together and play better as a team. I think if that carries over to this season, it’s going to be a great year for us.”
