In an effort to strengthen its commitment to developing the complete holistic student-athlete, The Faceoff Academy (FOA) is proud to announce a newly formed community partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation.
The partnership is intended to raise funds to support the essential services provided by the HEADstrong Foundation to improve lives affected by cancer while providing athletes with a philanthropic activity to fulfill community service requirements and or collegiate prerequisites.
Beginning this season faceoff specialists in high school, pro, club, and youth leagues from across North America and beyond will have the ability to compete in the “Face-Off Against Cancer”, an interactive online fundraising effort in which athletes will track face-off victories and use them as a measure for driving pledges for the cause.
Participants will share their statistical and fundraising progress using social media platforms and will empower their social network, friends and family to contribute reoccurring pledges throughout the season. FOA and HEADstrong plan to reward top participating face-off specialists with incentives and prizes. FOA plans to integrate the “Face-Off Against Cancer” into upcoming combines, draw days and events across country.
“Many of us at The Faceoff Academy have been personally affected by cancer and as a former teammate and opponent of HEADstrong founder Nicholas Colleluori, I am extremely proud to announce this new partnership,” said Greg Gurenlian, FOA founder and alum of Springfield-Delco and Penn State. “HEADstrong is certainly very near to my heart and I am honored to work with the organization and empower athletes to make a difference in the lives of families affected by this disease.
“As competitors we dedicate our lives to pursuing excellence and we at FOA believe in developing contributors to society who understand and appreciate the bigger picture. These life lessons begin now and we hope that our influence and endorsement of this noble cause we aid in the betterment of prospective players and their families.”
