Venerable boys’ lacrosse coach Paul Stankewicz will be honored tonight for his 50 years as a head and assistant coach at Henderson when the Warriors host Owen J. Roberts in a non-league game.
Stankewicz spent 14 years as an assistant to Bob Brinton from 1969-82 and has held the job for 36 years since. His teams are 415-225; last year he guided the Warriors to the championship game of the District 1 and PIAA Class AA tournaments.
A ceremony will be held after the game and a Scholarship Fund is being created in Stankewicz’s name to be given annually. Donations will be accepted at the door and through GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/paul-stankewicz-lacrossescholarship. So far $4,000 of the $5,000 goal has been met.
A reception will be held at Barnaby’s (West Chester) on South High Street.
