The Academy of Note Dame defeated visiting Merion Mercy, 15-4, Monday in the Annual Rooney Cup.
The Rooney Cup serves to benefit the Kelly Rooney Foundation. Kelly Rooney, the mother of three Merion Mercy graduates and one Sacred Heart grad, three of whom played lacrosse, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer on July 11, 2006.
Kelly Coyle collected two goals and three groundballs and scored her 100th career goal for Notre Dame (7-4). Natalie Hughes added three goals, an assist, three groundballs, three caused turnovers and a draw control while Maggie O’Brien added three goals, an assist, three groundballs, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
