Jed Hanson scored with 1:28 left in overtime as host Upper Dublin topped Central Bucks West, 9-8, Saturday in a District 1 AAA boys’ lacrosse quarterfinal.

The third-seeded Cardinals (17-1) advanced to the semifinals Tuesday and will host No. 15 Garnet Valley, an 8-7 winner over Perkiomen Valley. The Cards also clinched a PIAA berth.

Sixth-seeded CB West (14-5) will host No. 10 Perk Valley in a playback as it tries for one of the six District 1 state berths.

Upper Dublin rallied from an 8-5 third-period deficit as Brian McCarry (two goals), Hanson (four goals), and Carey Romig scored in the fourth period.

Luke Roselli won the faceoff at the beginning of overtime and after a long possession – that included a shot off the post by Max Winebrake – Winebrake fed Hanson for the game winner.

CB West had also used a big run, scoring five unanswered goals in the third period to seize an 8-5 lead.

Joey Rockovich (three goals, one assist) and Ben Huang (Michael Samson assist) scored back to-to-back goals in less than a minute to knot the score. Midway through the quarter, Rochovich scored after a timeout, giving the Bucks a 6-5 lead. Then Blake Ewaskey set up another Rockovich score that put the Bucks on top by two.

Soon, Rockovich found Samson for a goal, and the Bucks led 8-5.

“We went up 5-3, but (CB West coach) Matt (Coverdale) does a great job with his team and some breaks went their way,” said UD coach David Sowers. “And I told our kids before that we’ll win this game in the fourth quarter.

“Our kids never panicked. They never lost their poise; things weren’t going our way in the third quarter and they hung in there.”

Dillon Lojeski posted 11 saves for the Cards.

Samson two goals and an assist for CB West.

The Cards took a 2-0 lead on goals from Hanson and McCarry 52 seconds apart. Ben Sexauer and Samson responded for the Bucks to tie the game before Upper Dublin used a 3-1 run to take the 5-3 lead.
