The award, which was established in 2013, is presented to a high school team in the greater Philadelphia area. Almost 200 umpires vote for a team which, in their opinion, exemplifies the guidelines of sportsmanship and fair play. This criteria includes self control, courage, persistence, open graciousness in winning or losing and respects the judgements of the officials.
Academy Park was honored last Thursday at the Philadelphia lacrosse Association banquet at the Radnor Hotel.
Strath Haven won the award in 2013 and Germantown Friends was the recipient in 2014.
