Malvern Prep 2016 defenseman Cole Thomas has committed to play Division III lacrosse and football at Franklin and Marshall College.
Cole Thomas ledger:
High School: Malvern Prep
Graduation Year: 2016
Position: Defense
College Choice: Franklin and Marshall
Club Affiliation: Mesa Fresh 2016
Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: Penn Star U-13, CCLA All-Stars
What will you major in/study? Math, Economics, or Business
Why did you choose this school? “I chose F&M because I like its campus and its style of play on the field. F&M’s campus is very rural and its also a very strong academic school. Once they told me I would be able to play football as well, it was a done deal.”
HS team’s outlook for 2016 season? “I cannot wait for the season to come around. Numerous of our guys have been working hard in the weight room and on the field everyday. Also, many of our young guys from last year now have another year of growth and development under their belts and I see them as play key roles for us this season. I am looking forward to competing in tough, competitive big games against our tough rivals Episcopal Academy and the Haverford School. I cannot wait to see all of the off season hard work pay off and see our young guys step up this year.”
Thank You: “I apologize that this is going to be a long section, but I am going to give the many people who have helped me over the years the recognition they deserve. I would like to thank Malvern’s athletic trainers, William Mills and Mike Reinhart, for helping to get me to get back out on the field as quickly as possible after an injury. I would also like to thank John Schaeffer and James Shay at Winning Factor Sports Sciences for training me, getting me ready for the season, and pushing me to become the absolute best athlete I can be. I would also like to thank all of my Malvern teammates and Mesa ‘Family’ for pushing me and competing with me everyday in practice. I would like to thank my Malvern coaches: John McEvoy, Todd MacFarlane, Matt McCormick, Steve Holmes, Matt Mackrides; my Mesa Fresh coaches: Dave Sowers and Brian Wall; my OG Lionville coaches: Bob Miller, Charlie Rafferty; and my coaches who taught me the basics and fundamentals of lacrosse and how to play the game ‘the right way’, Alan Butcher and Bob Bouveir. A huge thank you goes out to the man who has done it all and has put up with coaching me for years on numerous teams, Coach Adam Mueller (I still remember the first time you met me and what I said to you). I would also like to thank my grandparents for being at every single game of mine since I little. I would like to thank my mom and dad for the countless things they have done for me throughout my life (waking me up super early to eat, driving me to numerous athletic events, and pushing me to be my best). Last but certainly not least, my biggest thank you has to go out to my sister, Kate, for being my #1 supporter/fan and always cheering the loudest at every single game (yes Kate, I hear you).
“I would like to thank all of these people for helping me become the athlete and man that I am today both on and off of the field.”
