On Saturday, November 21, 12 Philadelphia area boys’ teams will compete in the second annual PKO Invitational at Penn Charter. This event that serves as a tribute to Peter Ortale, who perished in the 9/11 attacks.
The Lacrosse community is a unique group of individuals who create a strong bond of support for each other and this event is an example of the deep relationships and respect given to fellow players and coaches. Peter Ortale is a first cousin of Penn Charter Head Coach Patrick McDonough.
Peter Ortale was a two time high school All American and as a captain, led Penn Charter to the 1983 State Championship. He went on to become a two-time All-ACC midfielder at Duke and captain of the Blue Devils in 1987. Peter’s passion for Lacrosse was only a part of his passion for life. Peter was killed in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. His life has served as an inspiration to all that knew him.
Participating teams include, Penn Charter, Lower Merion, Conestoga, Downingtown West, Radnor, Pennridge, Germantown Academy, Abington and Mesa Fresh.
