The Great Valley Boys’ Lacrosse Team raised $550 in its annual Christmas Service Project and will donate gifts to two “adopted” families in the area.
The team annually “adopts” two families from the GV community that is in need of support and after raising money for the cause, spends the day buying Christmas gifts and pajamas for them. This year’s team topped last year’s total of $475.
“They solicited the donations themselves and I challenged them to beat last year’s number ($475) and they did,” said GV coach Tony Verna. “They were pretty enthusiastic about it. I think it keeps us all grounded, and it gives the program an opportunity to give back to those who struggle a bit this time of year.”
The gifts will be delivered by church officials next week.
The boys represented Great Valley and the Lacrosse Program incredibly well and through their hard work, two families will have a happier Holiday this season.
