Mike Poppleton, who starred at Johns Hopkins and emerged as a top face-off specialist for the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse this summer, has been named an assistant coach for The Shipley School.

Poppleton will serve as a 6th grade and Middle School assistant as well as a Varsity assistant coach, head coach Mark Duncan said.
Poppleton, who also is an assistant coach and head face-off coach with the Duke’s L.C., had a brilliant career at Johns Hopkins. He also was on the US National Training Team in 2014.
Poppleton is the Hopkins record holder in career faceoff winning percentage (.644) and was a 2013 All-American. He ranked second in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.685) in 2013 and won 85 of 154 face-offs (55 percent) for Rochester in 2015.
Poppleton played lacrosse at Fayetteville-Manlius in Upstate New York.
