RANDOLPH, N.J. – Isabelle Rohr admitted that she was a little nervous when she began playing mostly with players from Long Island, Maryland and New Jersey as the lone Philly girl on the Knights Saturday in the 2019 Nike Elite 120 competition at The Indoor Sports Pavilion.

“My goal was to play against the best and see how I did under pressure,” said the midfielder from the Phantastix and Episcopal Academy. “I didn’t know anyone and it was nerve wracking at first, but we played as a team from first game and that was a big accomplishment.”
On Sunday Rohr helped the Knights defeat the Gators, 7-5, in the championship game of the two-day showcase of invited 2018s and 2019s that are uncommitted. The event, which drew 80 college coaches, also featured, testing in four skills events by Parisi Speed School.
Rohr credited coach Kait Gentry (TLC of Maryland) with bringing her team together.
“She got us together after our first meeting,” said Rohr. “Usually at a showcase everyone wants to go 1-on-1 and show the college coaches what they have, but we played like a team and that worked for us.”
Rohr also excelled in the Parisi testing. She tied for the fastest time in the 40-yard dash with a 5.20 and also was second in the 300 with a time of 50.50, beaten only by teammate Olivia Carner (Northport, LI Yellowjackets).
“My times really surprised me,” said Rohr, who also fared well in the Fastest Shot (55 MPH). “I didn’t think I was that fast. Playing middie, that will help in transition. I have keep doing more agility practice.”

What did Rohr learn from the event? “I learned a lot of stickwork skills because the girls on my team had really good stickwork. This was definitely the best showcase I have been to. The level of play was insane and it was definitely great playing with such different styles.
“I also learned how to play well with people I don’t know. It definitely makes you want to work harder. Winning makes it even better!”
In the 2018 field Sunday, midfielder Greer Guyer (Penn Charter, STEPS Philly) helped the Terriers defeat the Eagles, 8-7, for the team title. Guyer tied at 2-2 after her team had fallen behind, 2-0, but rebounded on a goal by fellow Episcopal Academy teammate Olivia Tuma (Philly Blast).
“My goal coming in was to get along with my teammates, meet new girls and have some fun while showcasing my skills to the best of mu abilities to the coaches,” she said. “I just really wanted to win and have great chemistry. I am an outgoing person and I like helping (teammates) and making them look good.”
Guyer admitted that her team needed to regroup after an early morning loss on Sunday.
“We won all our games Saturday and then lost our first game Sunday and didn’t have the same enthusiasm we had had the day before,” she said. “So we said, ‘Guys we have to step it up’ and we had a jam session in the locker room and we played together again.”
Guyer said her team’s positive energy pulled it through.
“You have to bring a positive attitude,” she said. “After they (the Eagles) scored those first two goals, we got it together. I learned you always have to have a positive attitude in everything you do.”
Guyer said that positive energy also applied to the Parisi Testing.
“Every girl felt they were doing horribly in the testing but we got through it together,” she said. “For the 300 we were all cheering each other on and that started our togetherness.”
The Eagles were coached by STEPS Philly/Radnor coach Brooke Fritz and featured Natalie Voiro and Colette Smith of South Jersey Select.
