Shipley boys’ lacrosse coach Mark Duncan has been bringing in Greg Cattrano to provide elite co-ed goalie clinics for 15 years so he knows how valuable the training and skill development can be for goaltenders of all ages.

“Getting together with Greg Cattrano to train goalies at Shipley School is always a highlight of all the clinics, camps and club lacrosse I am involved with,” said Duncan.
This year’s clinic was held Saturday and featured 25 goalies. Cattrano, a former MLL world champion and MVP who also starred at the NCAA and scholastic levels, and Duncan (Lehigh grad) were joined by Phillie Elite/LB3 Director and Pennridge coach J.P. Banks (Johns Hopkins), Shipley assistant Mike Poppleton (Johns Hopkins), Phillie Elite coach Old Man Banks and LB3 Atlanta coach John Zulberti (West Genesee, Syracuse).
Boys and girls aged 6 to 17 participated in the clinic.
Duncan noted that he, along with Cattrano and J.P. Banks are graduates of famed Ward Melville and Three Village Lacrosse on Long Island and played for Old Man Banks. They have enjoyed bringing the emphasis on skill development from Long Island.
Cattrano has always encouraged goalies to become aggressive and confident in their approach.
“Greg still has such a unique perspective for the position of goaltending,” said Duncan. “It’s still an honor to work with him after growing up and playing with him for almost 35 years from back in my days on LI with Three Village Lacrosse, Ward Melville lacrosse and all of the countless youth soccer, hockey, basketball and even baseball games we played.”
“We won championships in every sport – and I have learned a lot from watching Greg all of these years .”
