This is one of a series of previews for the 2016 Philly lacrosse season

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School

Head Coach: Ellen K. Reilly, 26 years
Assistant coaches: Michelle McLoughlin, Kristen Satko

Last year’s record: League 4-5, Overall 8 – 10

Notable losses: Janell Lewis, Western New England, Kirsten Monte Wagner University, Rita Trainer Chestnut Hill College, Morgan Brzozowski, Steph Fazio, Emily Miller, Cassie Ward.

Key returners: Maddie Berman senior/attack, Monica Dresnin senior/attack, Aurora Mills senior/midfield, Cate Golden junior/defense, Sam Ward junior/defense, Sara Tenaglio junior/defense, Victoria Betterly soph/attack, Ali Diamond soph/attack, Sophia Kolkka soph/midfield, Sarah Putsch soph/midfield.

Coach’s Outlook: “We have a group of young ladies who understand the game, are working hard and enjoy playing the game. I look forward to watching their progression having last year’s experience behind them. If we play together as a team I believe we could have a successful season.”

Springfield-Montco High School

Head Coach: Maggie Canavan, Third year
Assistant Coaches: Katie Phillips and Lauren Mussetti

Notable losses: Caroline Pape (playing at Fairleigh Dickinson), Bailey Krewson (playing at Immaculata University), and Molly Fitzpatrick.

Key returners: Lindsey Smith and Meredith Giordano (midfielders), Meg Chandler, Marley Berger, and Allison Yoder (attackers), Emily Giampietro (defense), Margrethe Leis (GK).

Others to watch: “We have a lot of incoming freshmen who we feel will make strong contributions to the team this year. Keep an eye out for Emily Walsh, who’s speed will carry us through the midfield.”

Coach’s Outlook: “We are going to be a young team this year, but have a great group of seniors to lead our team. The girls have been working really hard to come together as a group, both on and off the field. We are looking forward to seeing how their hard work pays off. We look forward to being a threat in the league this year. One of our main focuses is transition, both to attack and defense. Our girls are excited to start playing!”
