Shipley School 2017 midfielder Nick Yi has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Cleveland State University.

Nick Yi ledger:

High School: The Shipley Sxhool

Graduation Year: 2017

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Cleveland State University

Club Affiliation: Duke’s Lacrosse Club

Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: 2 Time Varsity Athlete, Maverik Showtime, Blackcard, Sweetlax

What will you major in/study? Engineering

Why did you choose school? “I chose the school because Cleveland State University has everything I want in a school. The community is very nice and the people are great as well. The college has a separate engineering school as well as another one being built. Also, the coaches are amazing people and have been the best to my family and I. The lacrosse program is just beginning and I am excited to be a part of this new start up program.”

Outlook for 2016 HS season? “We lost some key defensemen on the team, but we have a lot of our players coming back. We have all of our starting offense back including two seniors. The defense will be strong with our 2018 Michigan commit as well as our senior LSM. We lost our senior goalie but our junior goalie will be stepping up.”

Thank You: “First, I would like to thank my club coaches, Coach Ebe Helm and Coach Jason Christmas, for all of the help throughout this process.

“I would like to thank my mom for everything she has done for me with bringing me to tournaments and paying for everything.

“I would like to thank my Shipley head coach, Mark Duncan, for allowing me to be a big part of his high school lacrosse team making me a better player every year.

Other schools considered: Lehigh, Princeton, Bucknell
