Robin Panzarella scored the game-winner with 5 and a half minutes to play as Moorestown edged Summit, 7-6, today to win the New Jersey Group 3 state championship at Kean University.

Moorestown wins the NJ Group 3 championship

Moorestown (21-2) is the top seed in the Tournament of Champions and will open Wednesday in the semifinals vs. Group 2 champion Haddonfield at Middletown South (7 p.m.). Moorestown defeated Haddonfield earlier this year, 16-11.

Kayla Frank had scored the tying goal with 6:04 left for Moorestown, which had gone 20:06 without scoring.

Summit (18-4) had beaten Moorestown the past two years in the Group 3 final and had won five straight state titles (the first three out of Group 2).

For a while it looked like Moorestown was set to face another heartbreaker.

Moorestown led, 5-4, at halftime, but Katia Carnevale and Anna Turk gave Summit its first lead of the game five minutes into the second half.

Panzarella had two goals and two assists and Kacey Knobloch added a goal and an assist. Logan Lillie had eight saves for the Quakers.
