If you are a college lacrosse fan you have probably noticed the significant increase in Canadian lacrosse players over the past few years. Box lacrosse is a huge part of the Canadian players training. Skills developed in box lacrosse can add several dimensions to your outdoor play. You will see increased stick handling capabilities due to the small space, which will increase the amount of goals scored! The following are many more techniques learned from the box game: stick protection, finishing, limited space handling, deception, appropriate fakes, generating space, pick and rolls, screens, slips, off ball play, defensive footwork and angle play.
United Lacrosse is looking forward to a fun and educational event directed by Merrick Thomson and a box coaching staff that is second to none!
Who is Merrick Thomson and how did his box lacrosse background influence his career on the playing field? Thomson is a former Philadelphia Wings standout with a significant background in playing and coaching at the highest level of box/field lacrosse.
