The Old School Lacrosse Club has limited positions available for its 2017, 2018, and 2019 teams for the Summer 2016 season. Old School celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2015 and has been successfully instructing players with a team of respected High School coaches/educators lead by Old School’s founder and owner John Nostrant (The Haverford School). Our staff have played or coached at the highest levels and support the “teach first” mission of the club, that is why we selected some of the best teaching coaches in the region as well as select college players who support our mission. We are a player centered club in which each player is given the opportunity to excel athletically and academically in order to be prepared for the next level of their playing career while having a realistic picture of where they fit in the college scene.

Legion Lacrosse tryouts, for a new boys’ lacrosse club program in the Lehigh Valley, which will focus on teaching and skill development. Legion Lacrosse will be very different than any other travel team in the Lehigh Valley. Staffed by local college coaches, Legion Lacrosse seeks to be the premier teaching program in the area. Legion will start its first year with three teams, 2017-2018, 2019-2020 and 2021-2022. Try-outs will be at Moravian College on December 20th. The try-out will also feature a skills clinic. Staffs from Moravian College, DeSales and Lafayette will be traveling and coaching one of the select teams.

Brine NLC tryouts

The Brine National Lacrosse Classic Regional tryouts will be held for players that hope to advance to the National event July 19-22, 2016 at the River City Sportsplex in Richmond, Virginia. Teams will be coached by NCAA lacrosse coaches and will compete in a championship style format providing players with a meaningful lifetime experience that will better prepare them to meet the challenges of high school and college.

Coaches Clinics

The 27th annual PA Coaches Clinic, Jan. 9 at Cabrini College Student Center. Times: 9:30 am, Continental Breakfast; 10:00, Speakers (John Haus, Lebanon Valley; Brian Samson, Villanova; Pat Scarpello, FDU). Admission will be free.

The 2016 Winter Univ. of Maryland Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Clinic on Feb. 6, from 8:30-11:30 am. The clinic is open to all high school, club, and youth coaches. The Maryland lacrosse staff is excited to share drills, concepts, and ideas with all attendees. Following the clinic presentation, all coaches are welcome to watch a University of Maryland Men’s Lacrosse scrimmage with Harvard.

Old School Lacrosse Club 5th annual Winter Stick Skills clinic, for boys in Grades 9 through 12 at the Phelps School (Malvern, PA) on Sundays from 2-3:30 p.m. Sessions run until Jan 31st and you may register online here. OS sessions are run by current Team USA Indoor Assistant Coach Adam Mueller and focus on the proper mechanics and fundamentals that incorporate a combination of box and field lacrosse concepts.
Players experience high rep drills in a variety of situations to produce efficient results. Coach Mueller draws upon his 19 years of experience in the NLL and the only coach to take three different teams to playoff appearances. Enrollment will be capped.

Winter 1 Off Season Training Program, by Black Bear Lacrosse Club, at 422Sports in Pottstown PA. Sessions are open to ALL PLAYERS grades 3rd through 12th grade. Black Bear’s sessions focus on position specific training(Attack, Midfield, LSM, Mid/FO, Defense, Goalie) to develop a players skill set within their position focusing on the Quality of training with emphasis on technique. Players also will develop their footwork, fundamentals, and developing a players lacrosse IQ. DESCRIPTION: The Hawks Holiday Clinics give young lacrosse players the opportunity to develop their fundamentals and help build better lacrosse IQ. This will give them the necessary tools to be a more complete player going forward into the spring season. Whether your son plays goalie, defense, midfield or attack, they will have the opportunity to learn firsthand from a Division 1 coaching staff what it takes to be a well-rounded player. This will be a fantastic, learning intensive clinic so don’t miss your chance to participate!
HOLIDAY SHOOTER CAMP: This clinic will focus on teaching and developing the different fundamental movements of shooting; catch and shoot, hitch and go, shooting on the run, inside shooting, and more! The goal is to provide each clinic participant a substantial number of repetitions and attention from the Saint Joseph’s University coaching staff.
DOMINATING DEFENSE AND GOALIES: Here we build each camper from the ground up. Starting with the basics of stance, footwork, angles and mobility, we then progress to stick-work, ground ball play, outlets and proper communication. If you want to dominate the defensive end this spring – this clinic is for you!

NXTsports’ free NXT Field Day, Jan. 18, 2016 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Main Line Sports Center and feature NXTsoccer, Cradle Lacrosse, NXT LC Boys and Girls, SPARK Field Hockey, NXTfieldhockey, speed and agility training and NXTolympics. NXT Field Day’s mission is to expose all of NXT’s sports education programs to boys and girls ages 4-15. There will also be a moon bounce, a fastest shot competition and prizes and games throughout the day. NXT’s entire education staff will be on site, as will guest coaches. NXT partners Gatorade, Premier Orthopaedics and Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be a part of the NXT Field Day. Winter Youth Developmental Clinics

Cradle Lacrosse introductory lacrosse program, for boys and girls ages 4-8, hosted at Episcopal Academy, Garnet Valley, Main Line Sports Center, Friends Select and Germantown Friends. Cradle Lacrosse is the ultimate introduction to lacrosse. Our Friends Select program is 6 weeks long and will teach skills through our structured curriculum progression. We have a passionate staff that is excited to have fun teaching the fundamentals.

Face-Off Leagues

The Philly Face-Off League, Winter Skills clinics on Tuesday afternoons starting December 1st and its normal Sunday FO sessions starting December 22nd, at Main Line Sports in Berwyn. This 6-week program will be for players who want to practice and focus on all aspects of the face-off position. Technique Work, Shooting, Stick work, Live Wing-Play, Defense, and Live Situational Play will all be covered. Throughout the 6 weeks there will also be different guest speakers who will come in to give their expertise on other areas of your game that you should be focusing on as well. The Winter Skills face-off clinics on Tuesday afternoons (12/1-1/5) from 5-6:30 PM is open for players in 5-12th grade. PFL Sundays will return on Sunday, December 22nd. It will be for 9 weeks and will run from 6:30-8 PM every Sunday at the Main Line Sports Center. During the fall over 75 different high school face-off players (25 already committed D1) participated regularly in the Philly Face-Off League. The PFL is a club where starting face-off players for their respective school or club teams can meet once a week to not only practice their skills against each other, but receive coaching as well.
In order to be a part of our PFL Sundays you must have at least one year of experience facing-off at a high level for your school or club team. This league is not for beginners. Youth Leagues

NXTLeagues’ Mid-Atlantic Spring Lacrosse League, for boys’ club teams in grades 3-8, for spring of 2016. This year, the league looks to grow as it continues to feature the best youth club teams in the Mid-Atlantic region with teams from as far north as Connecticut and as far south as Northern Virginia expressing serious interest. Elite competition is found in both the A and AA divisions. Applications are open for the league, which is played exclusively on Sundays from March 20-May 15 at various top facilities in the Greater Philadelphia area. The cost is $2,300 per team with a $500 deposit due Dec. 1. Team applications must be filled out here.
The league will feature divisions in grades 3-8 and games are comprised of four 12-minute quarters with modified FIL rules to promote fast play and competition. There are two certified referees and one game coordinator per game, with one certified athletic trainer and one NXT representative per site.

Box Leagues

Fusion Lacrosse Winter Box League, Bucksmont in Hatfield. There is one opening for a 2021 or 6th/7th combined team. The league is also still accepting individual signups while very few spots remain for grades 5th-8th. The league’s clinic portion starts this Sunday but games do not start until Dec. 20th. The team would not necessarily need to be assembled until Dec 20th.

If you are a college lacrosse fan you have probably noticed the significant increase in Canadian lacrosse players over the past few years. Box lacrosse is a huge part of the Canadian players training. Skills developed in box lacrosse can add several dimensions to your outdoor play. You will see increased stick handling capabilities due to the small space, which will increase the amount of goals scored! The following are many more techniques learned from the box game: stick protection, finishing, limited space handling, deception, appropriate fakes, generating space, pick and rolls, screens, slips, off ball play, defensive footwork and angle play.
