The Brine National Lacrosse Classic Regional tryouts will be held for players that hope to advance to the National event July 19-22, 2016 at the River City Sportsplex in Richmond, Virginia. Teams will be coached by NCAA lacrosse coaches and will compete in a championship style format providing players with a meaningful lifetime experience that will better prepare them to meet the challenges of high school and college.

Leagues

Coach Duck Lacrosse Middle School Winter League, opens Jan. 31 on the Agnes Irwin turf. The Divisions are for 7th-8th grade teams and 5th-6th grade teams. Ultimate Development Program (UDP), an 8-week intensive curriculum of skill & game play breakdown for youth girls lacrosse players in classes 2023-2027 at The Agnes Irwin School.The focus is to provide an environment of interactive learning. Players will have the opportunity to work individually and collectively on all areas of the game and experience competitive play as well. Coaches will provide additional inter-squad scrimmages throughout the session to enhance the lax IQ of each player. The program is headed by Agnes Irwin and Ultimate coach Jen Duckenfield, as well as Maggie Forker, Alex Duckenfield, Stephanie McNesby and Jen Raech.

The NXT Lacrosse Academy (NLA) is for high-performing lacrosse players driven to take their game even higher. Our program matches a player’s intensity with small-group, position-based instruction built on a Division I training curriculum. These are not drills as usual.
Our goal is measurable improvement. Player’s abilities will be assessed at the onset of the program and then improved through consistent video breakdown and through our internal Player Assessment Tools. We are seeking intense players who are willing to learn and work hard.

Greg Cattrano Co-Ed Goalie Clinic at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 12-3 p.m.
This is the 15th year the popular clinic will be held at Shipley, hosted by Shipley Lacrosse and head coach Mark Duncan. The session runs at Shipley School’s Upper School Yarnell Gymnasium. The event is open to goalies or all ages, male or female.
Participants will receive 1-on-1 training with the former NCAA, MLL and NLL star goalie, who has been training goalies for almost two decades.

CrosseFIRE clinics for girls in Grades 3 to 8 at Archbishop Carroll High in Radnor, Jan. 24; Feb. 7, 21, 10:30-noon. CrosseFIRE Lacrosse is a leading indoor clinic program, featuring skill development and game instruction for female lacrosse players of all ability levels. At each clinic, participants are guided through an intense workout of strategy and skill instruction. Coached, small-sided play allows for practice and implementation of emphasized skills and techniques. Instruction is the primary focus of these clinics. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of good stickwork and techniques. The clinics are also one means by which players are identified for invitation into the PHANTASTIX Lacrosse Club, a travel/tournament lacrosse program for serious lacrosse players. REGISTRATION – Registrations are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your place in any one clinic or combination of clinics mail a completed application and signed athletic waiver to: CAC, Inc., 2045 Grantham Road, Berwyn, PA 19312. Clinic confirmation will be emailed to all mail applicants who provide a valid email address.
CLINIC TIMES – Clinics ($40 per clinic or $110 for all three) are available to all girls in grades 3 to 8. Beginners as well as intermediate and advanced players will be challenged to take their skills to the next level. Clinics will be held between 10:30 AM and noon on selected Sundays at: Archbishop Carroll High School, 211 Matson Ford Road, Radnor, PA 19087. The clinics are one means by which players are identified for invitation into the PHANTASTIX Lacrosse Club, a travel/tournament lacrosse program for serious lacrosse players.

Winter Youth Developmental Clinics

Cradle Lacrosse introductory lacrosse program, for boys and girls ages 4-8, hosted at Episcopal Academy, Garnet Valley, Main Line Sports Center, Friends Select and Germantown Friends. Cradle Lacrosse is the ultimate introduction to lacrosse. Our Friends Select program is 6 weeks long and will teach skills through our structured curriculum progression. We have a passionate staff that is excited to have fun teaching the fundamentals.

NXT Girls Lacrosse offers two 3-hour clinics on Saturdays this February! This is a perfect way to dust off the cobwebs before the spring season gets underway!
These sessions are open to all players grades 1-6 and are a great opportunity for players to learn, get better, and have fun!
Players will be broken up into small, age-appropriate groups with an experienced coach. The sessions will emphasize individual instruction, fundamental mechanics, positional skill sets, and high repetitions. Coaches will be chosen from a pool of our NXT LC coaches, as well as guest coaches (DI players, HS Coaches) who have been hand selected from our coach’s training/screening system.
Schedule: Saturday, February 13 8:30-11:30am & Saturday, February 20 8:30-11:30am
What You’ll Learn: Proper stick mechanics for throwing and catching; Ground balls: the approach, the battle and maintaining possession; -Shooting: technical breakdown of feet, hips, arms and hands; -Defensive footwork and positioning; -Understanding game situations on offense, defense and in transition; -Goalies: fundamental form, body positioning, angles, quickness and technique

Winter Tournaments

Ursinus College 4v4 Tournament & Clinic for High School Girls on Feb. 7. The event is hosted by the Ursinus College Women’s Lacrosse Team at Ursinus College- Collegeville, PA at Floy Lewis Bakes Field House
Teams must consist of at least 4 field players and a goalkeeper. (8 player max. per roster). Additional GKs are welcome and encouraged!
Coaches are welcome, but not required.
Individuals: You may register as an individual and we will place you on an independent team. All participating GKs may be asked to play in additional games.
Games: Officiated by UC Staff and Players; Full Court style, 12 mins in length; Each team will play approximately 7 games; Full Courts are the width of the field house
Registration Fee/Deadline: The cost is $55 per player and is due by January 31, 2016. No refunds will be issued. Checks may be made payable to “Ursinus College” and can be mailed along with completed registration form & release form to the following address

Polar Challenge, Monday, Feb. 15, by Ultimate Events, Maple Zone, Garnet Valley. Small sided 7v7 format; 6 Field players and 1 goalie; 4 players on attack and 2 plus the goalie back behind the restraining line. Spring Tournaments

First Annual Irish Invitational girls’ middle school tournament, March 19, 2016, at Academy of Notre Dame, 560 Sproul Road, Villanova PA 19085. Varsity Middle School Teams only. Come play in a fun, competitive tournament hosted by Notre Dame’s HS Varsity team. Each team is guaranteed two games. Fee includes a first place and runner-up trophy.

Chapter Challenge, a youth lacrosse festival for boys and girls that will feature good competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship on the pristine and spacious grounds of the Brandywine Polo Club in Chester County, April 30-May 1. Registration is now open for three girls’ divisions (U11, U13, U15) and four boys’ divisions (U9, U11, U13, U15). You can take advantage of “Super Early Bird” and “Early Bird” discounts, but register soon. Each division will feature two or more brackets to help each time find the appropriate level of play for a good day of festival lacrosse. The event is open to “Club” and “Travel Teams” and we will have a group teams based on available data to ensure top competition. We will offer a U15 Elite Bracket for Girls in 2016 (full checking, provided teams satisfy coaching certification requirements). THE CAUSE: The Chapter Challenge helps support initiatives of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association, the chapter of US Lacrosse responsible for promoting the growth and development of the game in Eastern Pennsylvania. Jersey Shore Point Showcase, Saturday, June 4, Manhassett Creek Park in Long Branch, N.J., for Classes of 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020. The Jersey Shore Point Showcase is a new individual one day showcase Players in attendance will receive top notch coaching and instruction led by NCAA Division I, II and III coaches as well as United Lacrosse Directors. Coupled with the instruction from college coaches, The Jersey Shore Point Showcase enables participants to compete at a high level and showcase their skills in a competitive and encouraging environment. Banquets

The 6th Annual HEADstrong Foundation Lime Light Gala, Friday March 11, at the Hilton Penn’s Landing, This special event has been recognized as one of the most inspirational events in the city of Philadelphia recognizing groundbreaking achievements in research, stories of hope, survivorship and remembering those who have lost their fight, in effort to improve quality of life for families affected by cancer. The event will be held at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing located at 201 South Columbus Boulevard from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are now available for $250 each with special pricing for tables of 10 and guests ages 15 -20. This year, television personality, comedian, game show host, producer and talk show host, Marc Summers, best known for hosting the Nickelodeon game show Double Dare, Unwrapped on Food Network, and is currently the executive producer of Restaurant: Impossible will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Additionally, long-time voice of the Philadelphia Flyers, recording artist, TV and film composer Lauren Hart as well as voice of the Philadelphia Eagles, recording artist, songwriter and pianist Jessy Kyle will co-chair the event.
The 6th Annual Lime Light Gala will honor Edward A. Stadtmauer, MD who serves as Chief of Hematologic Malignancies and Professor of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Lauren Shermer will share her inspirational story as she is presented with the prestigious Nicholas E. Colleluori Award. The award is presenting annually to a survivor demonstrating heroics and perseverance in the fight against cancer.
Proceeds from the Lime Light Gala will support the expansion of Nick’s House™, a facility operated by the HEADstrong Foundation™ which provides complimentary extended lodging to families traveling to Philadelphia for cancer related treatment as well as the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.
